Another perennial over-achiever in fine audio/video is Furutech. This year I was able to sample
several of their new designs, and came away impressed once again with the quality of
engineering and the performance of the Furutech line.

It seems no secret in the industry that reviewers do not flock in droves for the chance to review
cables. It is understandable as the difference from one cable brand to the next can generally be
very subtle, unless of course, we are talking about the difference between an 18-to-20 gauge zip
cord at $.35 a foot and a Nordost Odin at $28,000 for 2 meters.

Part of the excitement of being an audiophile is the fun derived from browsing online classifieds.
Within our respective budgets, we can have so much fun examining the various listed equipment
from the laptop on your lap in a lazy Sunday afternoon. So many times I was bent on acquiring yet
another piece of gear, from DACs to loudspeakers, when my wife put a restraining hand on my
shoulder just in time. Sometimes the more research and reading I do, the more I appreciate what I
have. Still, the classifieds gave me ideas bountiful for further research excursions.

Think of the AG-12 as one of the best tonearm cables within a reasonable budget, and the Silver Arrows are the way to go for on a top-line turntable/tonearm combination. On recent cartridge reviews, the Silver Arrows always extracts the most information from the cartridge.

DeStat
This enterprising Japanese company makes a number of interesting accessories as well as a broad range
of cable products. The DeStat ($360) is a hand-held battery-powered device that eliminates static charges
by blowing a gentle stream of positively and negatively charged charged ions. Traditionally the greatest

Last year, we gave Furutech an Exceptional Value Award for their AG-12 phono cable. It remains one of my personal favor- ites and the reference cable on my three tables that allow an aftermarket tonearm cable. It is very neutral, easy to use and, best of all, rea- sonably priced.

Vi fortsätter att utsätta den topp- testade skivspelaren 6 Perspex från Pro-Ject för uppgraderingar, den här gången en ny drivrem! Som jag beskrev det hela i min recension av spelaren i årets för- sta utgåva av Hifi & Musik, så bygger den nya 6:an i grunden på den ursprungliga 6:an från 90-talets mitt. Vissa detaljer är mer eller mindre helt identiska, som exempelvis den gängade skivpucken, men också drivrem- men.
