There’s no doubt. We’re living in the world of accessories, gadgets and gizmos. And our (not so) niche
high-end audio universe is also not prone to a wide array of high-end audio accessories.

It is amazing when you realize that nearly nothing
in existence is as solid as it seems. Unless cooled
down to excessive degrees, everything moves and vi-
brates constantly. When you dive into the world of par-
ticles, it’s all vibration. Not even the particles are solid.
They’re just oscillating forms of energy. All this is so
obvious to us that we only know it from science class.
There we first learnt about particles like miniature mar-
bles orbiting an atomic nucleus. Later we learnt that
those balls don’t really exist. Enter quantum physics
where even stranger concepts are sprung on us. Nev-
ertheless, we can only live by the grace of these ele-
mentary particles.
I’ve said it before: No matter what type of audiophile you are, Furutech probably makes a product you’ve lusted after. In addition to power distributors and filters, and finished interconnects, speaker cables, and power cords, they make DIY bulk cables and component parts, and accessories that include the stainless-steel and silver-plated FI-50 NCF power-cord connectors,
Q: What do you do when you’ve assem-
bled a system you love, and you’ve opti-
mized the sound in your room?
A. You look at tweaks.
Today we’ll look at some interesting new
tweaks from Furutech. I have on hand two
types of NCF Boosters. The original NCF
Booster is designed to hold power cables in
place, and the NCF Signal Booster is a scaled
down version designed for interconnects
and speaker cables.
What is Furutech’
I don’t know how our meeting today will be viewed by followers of theories like: “all digital audio devices sound the same” or “cabling has absolutely no influence on the sound
of a device,” but I should now warn the most nervous audio-voodoo hunters before they start to read this text. What is this all about? For me, this is nothing special, as we will
be looking this time not at a cable, but at an accessory for a cable application. But what exactly is it?
The path of product development is rarely linear and universally positive, and such has been the
case with Furutech’s simple but simply invaluable DeStat, a handheld device designed to
disperse static charges found on CDs, but is equally effective on vinyl discs, metal or plastic driver
diaphragms and a host of other audio-related items.
Japanese companies have been at the forefront of technological avant-garde for several decades now.
Several years ago they were joined by firms from South Korea, China and Taiwan, but in audio it is still
the Japanese who lead the way, usually those representing big corporations. On the other hand, in the
West, many interesting solutions in terms of design, make, finish, etc. presented for the first time by
these concerns are today a result of the work of small companies, individual inventors / designers, who
do their best to achieve perfection.
Today’s test is the proof for the fact, that you should always have your eyes and ears wide open, as having a mild obsession of following most reviews of various shows and
audio events, sometimes we can find some very interesting items. That was the case this time. While reviewing a very worked out photo reportage from CES, prepared by the
unmatched guys from My-Hiend, I saw a picture of a small reel of a fiercely pink cable. A small moment of dismay, quick verification of the catalog of a certain manufacturer
and despite late hour … pinging the Polish distributor on FB.
