The focus of this review is a lineup of Furutech products. It includes interconnects, speaker cables, and power
cords assembled with their bulk cable lines, along with the PowerFlux-NCF 18 factory-made power cords, the GTO-
D2 NCF(R) Power Distributor with custom-designed NFC duplex outlets. The premise of the bulk cables is to offer
a more economical approach for the DIY assembly of Furutech cables using their wire designs with Furutech
termination plugs of your own selection. Scot Markwell, President of Elite AV Distribution assembled the cables for
this review to the lengths needed for my stereo.

The Absolute Sound 2020/04

Furutech has taken the humble outlet and run it through a gauntlet of refinement far beyond what most of us can imagine.
Performance-wise there’s no doubt that the Furutech removed a layer of low-level grunge from the Sonic window, reducing
noise across the soundstage. Like a Sonic dust cloth, images were more tangible and retrieved with greater clarity. While the
Furutech GTX is not cheap, its uncompromising quality and high performance make it seem like a small price to pay.

A udiophiles have been known to spend a lot of time selecting a power cord. Indeed, these devices are indispensable links-nothing happens without them. But what about the other indispens- able accessory that enters the listening room right in front of them the AC wall receptacle? Easily overlooked on the enthu- siast audio checklist, and just as likely to be a cheap dual outlet that a contractor picked up at a big-box store for two bucks. Thin internal copper and poor electrical connections and contacts cre- ate impedance issues and losses in connectivity and conductance that affect performance.

When I first spoke with Scot Markwell, US Distributor of Furutech products, at Elite Audio Video Distribution in LA, and a longtime colleague of, and setup man for, the late Harry Pearson, about the opportunity to review a full loom of Furutech flagship cables and passive power devices, I admit to being more than a little interested.

As an engineer, I find it very gratifying when I review products that apply science to great success in delivering outstanding sound—a difference you can readily hear, provided the overall system can resolve high quality audio. Furutech has been in pursuit of such scientific application to sound reproduction. Their NanoFlux Speaker Cables, NanoFlux Power Cables, and GTX-DR NCF receptacles use a conformal nano-scale coating of their proprietary blend of silver and gold. A nanoparticle is a microscopic particle with at least one dimension less than 100 nm. Furutech applies their nanoparticle silver-gold coating on Ultra-Pure, Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC) conductors to smooth the conducting surface at the nanoparticle level, increasing conductivity.
