Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF)
Incorporated into selected Furutech products, NCF features a special crystalline material that has two ‘active’ properties. First, it generates negative ions that eliminate static. Second, it converts thermal energy into far infrared. Furutech combines this remarkable material with nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder for their additional ‘piezoelectric effect’ damping properties. The resulting Nano Crystal² Formula is the ultimate electrical and mechanical damping material. Created by Furutech, it is found exclusively in Furutech products.
The Furutech Floating Field Damper System
Magnetic Floating Field Damping Current flowing through a cable and its connector creates magnetic (and electrostatic) fields around them, building and collapsing 60 times per second in 120VAC systems. This magnetic field induces current flow– electrical potential–in small parts like the screws holding the connector shell together which have to be metal for tight clamping. The current flow in these small parts actually creates “floating” magnetic fields around them, and they interfere with the cable/connector’s larger surrounding magnetic field resulting in noise and distortion.
The Furutech Floating Field Damper solves the biggest problem you never realized you had by star grounding the metal parts in which floating magnetic fields are induced by current flow. All the various metal parts of the connector are tied together and shunt whatever electrical potentials generated to ground. This significantly lowers noise by reducing distortion for ultra-clean and stable power transfer.

Furutech FI-50 NCF / FI-50 / FI-52 NCF / FI-52 / FI-48 / FI-46 Series Connectors Regarding Housing Continuity Measurements Furutech would like to provide the following technical clarification regarding continuity measurements between various external housing sections of certain Furutech connectors. The primary earth/ground path of Furutech connectors is achieved through the actual ground conductor and grounding pin structure itself. Continuity between external housing sections is not a guaranteed specification parameter and may vary depending on product design, construction methods, and normal manufacturing tolerances. In particular, products incorporating carbon fiber elements, layered housing structures, bonded assemblies, or vibration-control materials may exhibit differences in measurable continuity between various external metal components. These variations do not affect:
- Grounding performance
- Electrical safety
- Product reliability
- Intended audio performance
Many Furutech flagship connectors incorporate the patented Floating Field Damper™ (Earth/Ground Jumper System), protected under US Patent No. 6,669,491 and European Patent EP1445837. This sophisticated system is specifically engineered to reduce distortion and noise caused by floating magnetic fields generated within metallic connector components during current flow. The mechanism works by carefully grounding key internal metallic components through a precision-engineered conductive bridge structure, thereby stabilizing electrical potential and improving overall power and signal transfer performance.
Does My Connector Have the Floating Field Damper™?
Video Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HmvNJhM5UE Open your connector and check for the Furutech Floating Field Damper™ structure. The conductivity relationship between the body, housing fixing screws, and ground pole is explained as follows: Check for the small copper tabs located near the screw holes (highlighted in yellow in the reference image). In version “B”, the Floating Field Damper bridge can be seen through the clear plastic cover. In version “A”, only the small copper tabs are visible within the screw holes. Current flowing through a cable and its connector creates magnetic and electrostatic fields that continuously build and collapse during operation. These fields can induce electrical potential within small metallic parts such as fixing screws and connector hardware. The resulting floating magnetic fields can interfere with the main signal or power transfer path, introducing noise and distortion. The Furutech Floating Field Damper™ system addresses this issue by carefully grounding these floating metallic elements through a precision-engineered conductive bridge structure, significantly reducing distortion and contributing to cleaner and more stable power transfer. Because the external housing itself is not the primary earth path, measurable continuity between certain housing sections may or may not be present depending on model design, assembly methods, and normal production tolerances. If your connector incorporates the Floating Field Damper™ structure, you can rest assured that the product is operating as intended and represents one of the most sophisticated audio-grade connector designs available today.
